Recipe: Soda Pop Halloween Angel Food Cake

There are a few reasons to enjoy Angel Food cake. It has less sugar than pound or sheet cake. It also has less calories. In some cases, even diabetics can eat it.

Those are all unnecessary excuses to enjoy something as delicious as this homemade Halloween-colored recipe.

Soda Pop Halloween Angel Food Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 18.5 package angel food cake mix
  • 1 1/4 cup orange flavored carbonated beverage
  • 1/4,cup honey
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 Tbsp orange flavored carbonated beverage
  • 4 drops orange food coloring
  • 1/2 – 3/4 cup candy corn

Preparation:

  1. Prepare cake mix according to package directions, except substitute. 1 1/4 cups soda pop and honey for the water.
  2. Bake as directed.
  3. Remove from oven and set aside upside down until cool.
  4. Meanwhile to prepare glaze, combined melted butter, powdered sugar, remaining soda pop, and food coloring in a mixing bowl.
  5. Mix until smooth (drizzling consistency) spread on top of cake.
