Aug. 24, National Whiskey Sour Day Makes It Specific

I can’t tell the players anymore without a program. Perhaps I need a plug-in calendar app loaded with all of the related dates because it’s getting to be impossible to keep track of all the themed days. And I’m not talking about all of the categories lumped together — from food to hobbies to activities, etc. I’m only concerned with the booze-related holidays.

We’ve had National Scotch Day, National Rum Day, International Beer Day. I could go on forever. The latest player on the pitch? August 24 is National Whiskey Sour Day. Now it’s getting really specific.

Still, I figure it’s best to go with the never-ending marketing schedule and embrace these 24 hour periods of product narcism. In this case, I advise just kicking back and coming to terms with National Whiskey Sour Day with this simple recipe of said cocktail directly from Black Velvet. A couple of these and you give a damn who’s celebrating what today.

Black Velvet Sour

Ingredients:

  • 2 parts Black Velvet Whisky
  • 3 parts Sweet & Sour mix
  • 1 maraschino cherry
  • 1 slice of lemon

Preparation: Shake Black Velvet and Sweet & Sour mix with ice and strain into a glass over ice. Garnish with lemon and cherry.

Repeat. And remember every day is National Drink Responsibly Day.
