Watch the New John Lewis Christmas Advert in 360 Degrees

John Lewis has released its new Christmas advert, and unlike previous years this one doesn’t forcibly tug on our heart strings with a tale of a lovelorn snowman, or an impossibly selfless young boy excited to give his mom and dad their presents, or a pensioner living on the moon. This year we have Buster, a dog who simply cannot wait to spend Christmas Day playing on his owners’ trampoline.

The advert, the latest in a modern British Christmas tradition kickstarted by the retailer, has already garnered thousands of views since going online this morning and immediately became the top trending topic in the UK shortly after its release. But this year John Lewis has decided to complement the ad with another video, which allows viewers to experience Buster’s garden in 360 degrees.

The video, which can either be viewed in the traditional YouTube player or in virtual reality by way of a headset such as the Samsung Gear VR or Google Cardboard, places the viewer in the centre of the trampoline while surrounded by the cute critters that can be seen in the advert. Much like the ad, it presents a nice way to get into the Festive spirit, and serves as a startling remember that you have just over a month left to do all of your Christmas shopping.
