FBI “Closing In” on Jennifer Lawrence Leaked Nude Photos Hacker

The FBI is said to be closing in on the individual who published the nude photographs of a variety of famous faces, including The Hunger Games actress Jennifer Lawrence, in what is now considered the largest celebrity hacking scandal in history.

Jennifer Lawrence was the most high-profile name in a huge list of female celebrities who the unnamed hacker had allegedly obtained nude photographs of, which also included Kate Upton, Mary-Elizabeth Winstead and Kaley Cuoco. The anonymous individual claimed that he/she had gone into hiding after submitting the photographs, though was still requesting Bitcoin donations for an alleged video of Jennifer Lawrence performing a sex act.

FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said the bureau was “aware of the allegations concerning computer intrusions and the unlawful release of material involving high profile individuals, and is addressing the matter.”

The hacker began posting the leaked images to 4chan, which were then immediately circulated on the Internet. Kate Upton’s lawyer responded to the image leaks, saying: “This is obviously an outrageous violation of our client Kate Upton’s privacy. We intend to pursue anyone disseminating or duplicating these illegally obtained images to the fullest extent possible.”

The hacker allegedly obtained the images through Apple’s iCloud service, which has led to a huge backlash against the hardware and software manufacturer. Considering that this leak has happened just days before the tech giant reportedly set to unveil the iPhone 6 on September 9th, it’s sparked a wide investigation into how such a massive breach of privacy has been incurred.
