Fox Orders a New Animated Series From Seth MacFarlane

Earlier this year, Fox abruptly canceled production of the animated series “Murder Police” before the show even debuted on the network. Since only “The Simpsons,” “Family Guy” and “Bob’s Burgers” will return in Fall 2014, this left a slot open in the Animation Domination lineup.

According to Deadlinethat void will be filled by “Bordertown,” a new animated series that has landed a 13 episode first season on Fox. “Bordertown” was created by Mark Hentemann and executive produced by Seth MacFarlane. This will be MacFarlane’s fourth animated series to have premiered on Fox. “Family Guy” was the first, while “American Dad!” is moving to TBS and “The Cleveland Show” was recently canceled.

“Bordertown” will reportedly follow two neighbors: Bud Buckwald and Ernesto Gonzales who live in a small town near the U.S. and Mexican border. Bud is said to be a married father of three and a border patrol agent “who feels threatened by the cultural changes that have transformed his neighborhood.” Whereas Ernesto is “an industrious Mexican immigrant and father of four, who is proud to be making it in America.”

What? No talking fish and aliens? Next they’ll be telling us that there won’t be cutaway gags.

MacFarlane is also currently producing the live action comedy, “Dads” and the upcoming reboot of “Cosmos” with Neil deGrasse Tyson.
