Tom Hiddleston Open to Appearing on ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’

After yesterday’s screening of the “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot for the Television Critics Association, it was followed by a panel with Joss Whedon and the cast as well as party with the “S.H.I.E.L.D.” actors. Today, the TCA press tour turned down the dial with PBS panels and presentation on scholarly drama and documentaries. However, the Marvel interest continued as Tom Hiddleston appeared on a panel for “Great Performances: The Hollow Crown,” a Shakespeare adaptation of Richard II, Henry IV parts 1 & 2 and Henry V in which Hiddleston plays Henry V in three of the plays.

After the “Hollow Crown” session, the TCA couldn’t help ask Hiddleston if he would be open to reprising his Thor and Avengers role of Loki in an episode of the “S.H.I.E.L.D.” series. Whedon told us yesterday that he would consider asking Marvel movie stars to do episodes if it makes sense for the story. Hiddleston agreed.

“It would be something that would depend upon script and story but yeah, of course,” said Hiddleston..

So Loki is open to causing some more trouble in New York for the new agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and this is not just open speculation. Hiddleston is in the inner circle of Marvel and crossed paths with Whedon over just this very subject at Comic-Con this summer.

“I’ve spoken to him about it,” noted Hiddleston. “I saw him down in San Diego. I hear it’s good fun.”

Cobie Smulders reprises her role of Agent Maria Hill in the “S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot. We will of course continue to ask actors Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson about appearing on “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” as they have other press events in the next year.
