Chris Lowell on The ‘Veronica Mars’ Movie

Chris Lowell was at the Television Critics Association presentation of the new Fox comedy “Enlisted.” After the session, we asked him about shooting the Veronica Mars movie, which he wrapped last week. He said Piz still has a big part in Veronica’s story.

“It’s actually bigger than I ever expected it to be,” said Lowell. “Essentially Piz and Logan were the two men pining for Veronica’s heart and we’re still those same men it’s safe to say.”

It’s been six years since “Veronica Mars” went off the air, but the film is set nine years later. “I think Rob [Thomas] really bought himself some leeway by setting the film nine years after the show,” offered Lowell. “Frankly, there was no time to wiggle our way back into things because we had such a tight schedule, we just jumped in headfirst.”

Lowell also reflected on the atmosphere of working on this long-awaited follow-up, funded by the fans themselves on Kickstarter.

“It’s nothing short of a blessing because we all fell in love working on that show,” related Lowe. “To be able to go back and jump into these old characters and speak Rob’s language that he wrote for us was just a blast. I’m just glad I was cast in it to be perfectly honest with you. I had a blast.”

The Veronica Mars movie will be released next year.
