Back to Back to the Future Comic Sweepstakes!

There are always those Hollywood legends about the people who were originally supposed to play iconic movie roles, but for some reason or another, they had to drop out. Tom Selleck was famously the first choice for Indiana Jones, for example, but he had scheduling conflicts that prevented him from taking the role, leaving it open for Harrison Ford. Did you know that Eric Stoltz was not only the original choice to play Marty McFly in Back to the Future, but he actually filmed for four weeks before executive producer Steven Spielberg consulted with director Robert Zemeckis and decided that he was playing the role too seriously. Thus, he lost the role, which was then given to Michael J. Fox to bring the proper comic touches they were looking for.

Fast forward to now, when writer/director/producer David Guy Levy has scripted Back to Back to the Future, which reimagines the story of the classic time travel films with Stoltz still firmly in place as Marty McFly – in fact, he shows us the filmmakers going back in time to make sure Stoltz remained in the role. Obviously, this wasn’t going to make it to film without a lot of copyright issues, so it’s now a comic book series instead! On top of that, he’s donating all proceeds from the book to The Young Storytellers Foundation.
