As we get closer to Opening Day, Thuuz has ranked the best of baseball from last season, and the list is impressive.

Let’s take a quick look back.

4. Giants 12 Rockies 10: April 23

Slugfest: 9 Homers in the game 6 by the Giants including a go ahead grand slam in the top of the 11th inning. Game went back and forth in the high scoring affair. Rockies still put up a fight down 4 in the bottom of the 11th scoring 2 and putting a runner on first before a double play ended it.

5. Giants 4 Cardinals 5: Oct. 12

NLCS game 2: Giants score on a wild pitch in the top of the ninth and game looks to be headed to extras until Kevin Wong hits a walk off homer. The Cards had 4 HR’s in the game.

6. Pirates 5 Nationals 6: Aug. 17

Nationals took a 4-2 lead into the top of the 9th but the Pirates stormed back scoring 3 runs. Then a clutch single from the Nats in the ninth tied it up and a sac fly gave them the win in the walk-off win in the 11th.

Back and forth game Braves score go ahead run in the top of the ninth beating a play at plate off of a wild pitch.

Nationals didn’t score until they called in Adam LaRoache to pinch hit in the 9th and he hit a two run homer to tie the game. The Dodgers scored a run in the ninth and in the 12th to force extras but had no answer in the 14th.

9. Rockies 11 Mets 10: May 03

Another high scoring game at Coors field: Troy Tulowitzki passed 1,000 hit mark

Mets took early 6-0 lead, Rockies scored 8 runs in the 5th Mets reclaimed the lead in the 9th but a two run pinch-hit homer gave the Rockies a walk-off win

No-hitter: Zimmerman throws the first no-hitter for the Nationals in franchise history. With only a one run lead the Nationals had a game to win down the stretch as well as a no-hitter to protect.

MLB Most Exciting Teams of 2014

1. San Francisco Giants

2. Oakland Athletics

3. Baltimore Orioles

4. Colorado Rockies

5. St. Louis Cardinals

6. Detroit Tigers

7. Anaheim Angels

8. Kansas City Royals

9. Los Angeles Dodgers

10.Milwaukee Brewers

Fun list. However, I would have at least included one of the NLDS games between the Cardinals and Dodgers under most exciting games. Game 1 was a phenomenal slugfest in which Adam Wainwright and Clayton Kershaw faced off and the Cards came back from a 6-1 deficit to win 10-9.

Don’t forget about the epic Matt Adams home run in Game 4.

The Kansas City Royals probably should be ranked higher as well under most exciting teams. They caught lightning in a bottle, making their first post season trip in almost 30 years and the entire city of KC was on board. I mean, just take a look — they were part of the top 2 most exciting games of the season.

I guess sometimes you can’t compute passion.
