Comic-Con 2014: The Last of Us Film to Star Bruce Campbell and Maisie Williams

Following the critically successful release of The Last of Us, a film adaptation was born. Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckman is confirmed to be writing the script, while The Evil Dead and The Spider Man trilogy director Sam Raimi will be the producer. But who will play as Ellie and Joel, the two main protagonists? We found out today during a Comic-Con 2014 panel.

Both Druckman and Raimi have met with Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams and Evil Dead‘s Bruce Campbell, securing them as the roles of Ellie and Joel in The Last of Us‘ film adaptation.

Both Ellie and Joel are strong-minded survivalists during the course of The Last of Us’ narrative, something Williams and Campbell have experience with. Really, they fit the roles well despite their not-so-similar looks.

It is unknown what the film’s storyline will entail, but chances are it’ll diverge from the game’s timeline while staying within the post-apocalyptic America setting.

The Last of Us is receiving a PS4 port next week. Titled The Last of Us Remastered, it’s arguably the biggest video game release of Summer 2014.
