East Coast Music Awards See Nova Scotia Coming Out On Top

The East Coast Music Awards, which took place this past weekend, saw a number of musicians from Nova Scotia being honoured – Pictou, NS native Dave Gunning took home two major prizes at the event – solo recording of the year for “No More Pennies” and songwriter of the year for “These Hands.”

Old Man Luedecke took home album of the year as well as folk recording of the year, while PEI’s Jenn Grant won song of the year.

“Again this year, we have seen that Atlantic Canada is home to an incredible amount of world-class talent, premiere industry leaders, and an incredibly supportive music community,” said Heather Gibson, chair of the ECMA’s board of directors (Northumberland News).

“Dave Gunning is the next big thing in the True North of Song, an artist as compelling, as assured and attentive to every nuance of the writing process as Lightfoot, Cockburn and Stan Rogers before him.” — Greg Quill, The Toronto Star (ECMA)
