West Ham Fans Throw Roger Johnson’s Shirt Back at Him After 6-0 Defeat

Fans threw West Ham’s Roger Johnson’s shirt back at him after he gave it to the crowd following the Hammers’ 6-0 defeat to Manchester City.

The incident happened after the club’s League Cup semi-final loss, and mirrors another incident which occurred when Johnson played for Wolves, in which fans again threw his shirt back at him after the club was relegated to League One.

After being signed to Birmingham City for £6million in 2011 and being heavily criticised at the Blues, Johnson made his way to the Hammers on loan this year to a negative reaction from fans. He even faced disciplinary action from the club after turning up to training under the influence of alcohol.

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has recognised the trouble the club is facing, saying: “There are times when it is good and there are times when it is not so good. You have then got to draw on your strength and experience.

“It is my job first thing in the morning to get the players up. We have got to get our heads up, shoulders back and chests out and try to bounce back, starting with Cardiff City.”

West Ham will face Cardiff on Saturday (January 11th).
