The Temper Trap Member Lorenzo Sillitto Quits

The Temper Trap have lost member Lorenzo Sillitto after the guitarist officially left the band on Tuesday.

Sillitto is off to “try new things” according to a statement released by the band.

“I’ve loved everything about The Temper Trap,” Sillitto said. “It’s been an incredible experience. I want to thank the boys for all the amazing times, places we have seen and played and laughs along the way, management, record labels, the many people who’ve supported the band throughout the years, the many friends I’ve made and of course the fans – it has been an amazing journey, an experience I will never forget and one that changed my life.”

A big part of the band since 2005, Sillitto was responsible for the riffs of hits ‘Sweet Disposition’, ‘Rabbit Hole’ and ‘Trembling Hands’.

In a 2010 interview with FaceCulture, Sillitto said the band had no intention of splitting.

“I think the band would still go on,” he said.  “I think whoever the new person would be would add a new flavour to the band, but I don’t think any of us are willing to leave just yet.”

“Loz has been a great friend and a valued and important member of The Temper Trap since he joined in 2006,” the band said in a statement. “His creativity and commitment to the band over the years has been first class and we wish him all the best with the exciting events that are about to come into his life. The bond we all formed in those early years in Melbourne and endless kilometres in the Tarago has been with us through the good times and got us through the tough times so while we’re sad to lose a guitarist, we are not losing a friend.”

There has been no word from the band as of yet as to whether the loss of Sillitto will affect the release of their third studio album set for 2014.
