Prince Harry is reportedly trying to strengthen his relationship with his father as another major legal decision approaches. One insider now claims the Duke of Sussex’s charm offensive may also involve hopes for financial help from King Charles.
Sources claim Prince Harry hopes King Charles will help cover a reported $67 million shortfall
Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice reported that anonymous palace insiders believe Harry’s reconciliation efforts may be partly connected to a potentially enormous legal bill. One insider claimed Harry knows his father could afford to help, but the report offered no proof that Harry has formally asked Charles for money.
The $67 million figure needs important context. It represents more than £50 million in legal costs that Associated Newspapers Limited says it incurred while defending a privacy case brought by Harry and six other claimants. It is not a confirmed personal debt assigned solely to the prince.
According to People, London’s High Court dismissed the group’s claims on July 7 after finding that they had not proved the publisher unlawfully obtained information used in the disputed articles. Associated Newspapers said it would seek to recover its legal costs. A hearing scheduled for July 29 and 30 will address the orders following the judgment, including any disputed costs.
Harry and fellow claimant Doreen Lawrence described the ruling as a “complete and obvious whitewash.” However, the court has not yet determined how much the claimants may owe individually, if anything. That distinction makes the source’s royal bailout claim speculative rather than established.
The allegation follows Harry and Meghan Markle’s reported private reunion with King Charles at Highgrove House. Although the meeting fueled reconciliation talk across the British royal family, another report claimed Harry’s relationship with his father had improved while his rift with Prince William remained unchanged.
The couple has also faced unverified questions about the Sussexes’ finances. Still, those reports do not establish that Harry cannot meet any costs eventually imposed.
Shuter quoted an insider as saying, “Harry may be asking for forgiveness, but what he really needs is someone to pay the bill.” For now, that remains an anonymous source’s interpretation. The report did not include confirmation from Harry or Buckingham Palace that he had requested financial help.
