FFXIV: A Realm Reborn Players Receive 7 Free Days for Server Issues

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has had some pesky server issues since Early Access began over a week ago. Not only is Square Enix supposedly curing the issue later today, it will also be giving out free time to compensate players for their frustrating first week.

In today’s Lodestone update, Square Enix addressed the problems it has been facing with FFXIV: A Realm Reborn‘s launch. In addition to scheduling a lengthy 10 hours of maintenance beginning at 5:00pm PDT tonight, seven free days of playtime will be granted to existing and future players. All customers who have purchased a copy before September 9th at 11:59pm PDT will be eligible for the free week, bringing the total free period up to 37 days (every copy includes a free month).

As confident as Square Enix sounds in tackling server troubles with tonight’s update. Some are still skeptical. Square Enix will be adding new worlds and increasing the amount of servers that host instances, but without proper queue or AFK kick systems the more congested servers could continue to provide frustration. We won’t know until the servers come back up tomorrow at 3:00am PDT.
