Woo-Hoo! The Simpsons Could Become an RPG

The Simpsons have had many forays into the video game world, some good (The Simpsons Arcade Game) and some not so good (The Simpsons Wrestling, The Simpsons Hit ‘n’ Run, The Simpsons Game, Bart vs. The Space Mutants), but despite all the different genres these games have spanned, we’ve yet to have a Simpsons RPG.

Following the success of the extremely popular mobile city-building game The Simpsons: Tapped Out, the show’s executive producer Al Jean was asked in a Google Hangout interview with GoldDerby whether or not there would be any more Simpsons games in the future. “We’ve talked about, I think there will be,” Jean said.

The interviewer then brought up the possibility of a Simpsons RPG, following in the footsteps of South Park‘s upcoming Stick of Truth game. “Yeah, we’ve talked about it,” Jean replied. “It’s a really complicated thing to do, especially because you have to like, you know, write a number of possibilities for each occurrence.

“But, we’ve been [doing video games for] so long. I mean, the first game was an arcade game. So there’s been unbelievable history to the video games that have come off the show.

“And we’re a ride at [Universal Studios], which is amazing. So I think that kind of thing is not going to stop. In fact, it will just increase.”
