It’s easy for pranksters to cross a line that shouldn’t be crossed. That’s what a group of teenagers in Sacramento did after they posted videos of themselves on social media throwing water bottles at homeless people and otherwise being a menace by threatening others. The outrage from the community is palpable, and one TikTok creator has made it his business to figure out the identities of the teenagers for what he says amounts to assault and battery.
TikTok creator is trying to identify the teens
A video of a group of unidentified teenagers throwing bottles and performing pranks has since gone viral for all the wrong reasons, according to a report from CBS Sacramento.
A compilation of the teens’ actions can be seen in a video by TikTok creator TizzyEnt (@tizzyent) who is appalled by what they are doing and is in search of more information about who they are, so that he can reach out to local law enforcement. At the time of writing, the video has received over 250,000 likes and over 1.3 million views.
The creator says he received a link to the teenagers’ social media page (which has since been taken down) that had two videos on it. The pranksters are seen throwing water and water bottles at the unhoused in several different cuts. In one segment, one of the teens appears to hand a bottle to a homeless man as a seemingly nice gesture, only to chuck it at the man and drench him in water before running away.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg, though. In another part of the video, a teenager stands intimidatingly close to a woman inside a white car with the driver’s side door open as the teen holds what looks to be metal pipe behind his back. Other shots see the group throwing objects at a bike rider and chucking water at a person out walking a dog.
The video then shows someone writing a comment that reads “karma will get to yall,” to which the creator of the now-deleted channel responds, “are you next?”
In response, the TikTok creator plans on being the karma that the teenagers deserve. “This is a crime. This is assault and battery,” he said. “I’m gonna make a video. What do you think the odds are they people who know you in real life see it and know who you are and tell me who you are? And then I give that information to law enforcement.”
Sacramento man says he’s been kicked by group of teens
Further investigation from CBS Sacramento uncovered a man, Chip Stockton, who says he recognized the teenagers in the videos and was assaulted by one of them.
Stockton said that he was listening to his radio outside a Safeway on Arden Way when he was told to turn the volume down by one of the teens.
“I put my backpack on, I turned around, and one of the guys came up and kicked me,” Stockton recalled. “They physically assaulted me, and that’s assault and battery is what they did to me.”
Angel Melendez, a worker at a business in the shopping center near the Safeway, says the group has been a menace to the shoppers and the homeless in the area and believes that they are doing these so-called pranks for clicks and views.
“They want clout. They want to blow up,” Melendez said. “But obviously they could have done that by doing the opposite of this, by helping the homeless instead of harming them. And I would have had their back, the community would have had their back.”
Officials from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office say they know about the videos, but that they had not received any reports from the victims who were seen in them. Stockton says that he would be willing to file a report on what the teenagers did to him if he were asked to do so by investigators. The sheriff’s office has not yet identified anyone who is involved in the videos.
