Jennifer Lawrence’s Mom Went Below the Belt With This ‘Hunger Games’ Critique

Jennifer Lawrence has revealed that her mother, Karen Lawrence, once gave her some blunt feedback about her appearance in “The Hunger Games.” During a recent podcast appearance, the actress recalled how her mother claimed she could tell when Lawrence was on her period while filming the movie.

Speaking on the October 28 episode of Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, Jennifer Lawrence recalled her mother’s blunt feedback. Karen made the remark at the premiere of “The Hunger Games.” She claimed she could tell when her daughter had been on her period during filming.

“My mom, at the premiere of The Hunger Games, said she could tell in every scene when I had my period,” Lawrence recalled. “Water retention, I guess.”

Lawrence joked that the comment still crosses her mind. “Imagine a day of me being on camera that that doesn’t go through my mind,” she said.

The actress insisted that Karen remains her biggest supporter. She called her mother “the most supportive” person in her life. She also described Karen as “the person I’m so excited to tell exciting news to.”

Lawrence then discussed the backlash over her opinion of “The Summer I Turned Pretty.” She declared herself Team Jeremiah, upsetting viewers.

“I said that I was Team Jeremiah during The Summer I Turned Pretty,” she said. “And the level of hate that I got was bigger than any controversy I’ve ever been involved in in my life.”

The actress admitted that she wanted to provoke reactions through “rage baiting.” Still, the hostility caught her off guard.

“People were like, you should die. You should die,” she recalled. “And I’ve p**sed off the public, like, many, many times. I’m old. I’ve been famous for decades. It never occurred to me that that would be the number one where people were just like, ‘I wish you had never been born.’”

Despite those harsh reactions, Lawrence approached both stories with humor. Her remarks offered a candid look at her relationship with her mother and the challenges of public attention.
