There are some stories that make people want to see teenage criminals get charged as adults. A group of teenagers in Washington were arrested after they allegedly carjacked a white BMW at gunpoint and went on a crime spree throughout the night. It wasn’t until the following morning that deputies caught the vehicle speeding down a street and chased the suspects down.
Juveniles caught on video abandoning the BMW and fleeing on foot
On August 29 at around 7:30 a.m., a deputy from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office observed a white BMW SUV exceeding speeds of 100 miles per hour going southbound on Pacific Ave. S, as caught on dashcam footage provided by the department on its official Facebook page.
Dispatch had alerted deputies that a vehicle matching that description had been stolen at gunpoint in Tacoma and that the occupants had reportedly been a part of a “crime spree throughout the night,” including the possibility of “several car prowls involving firearms.”
Video footage of the car chase sees police trying to catch up with the BMW. In a lucky break, the vehicle hits a ditch and blows out two tires. With the SUV disabled in the middle of the street, the three teenagers — one 14-year-old male as the driver and a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old as the two passengers — are seen rushing out of the vehicle and fleeing on foot.
The video cuts the proceeding foot chase out since the suspects are juveniles. However, all three teenagers were caught, arrested, and booked into Remann Hall Juvenile Detention Center.
The post says there were two firearms in the vehicle “matching the descriptions of the ones used in recent crimes.” One was on the driver’s side and another was on the passenger’s side, the latter of which is shown in the footage as the deputies approach the abandoned BMW.
The post does not provide details on what charges the teenagers will face. But if they did the crimes that the police allege they did, the list of charges are expected to be quite long.
