Jason Statham’s $89M R-Rated Action Movie Is Finally Getting Its Due on Streaming

Jason Statham’s latest action thriller is climbing Prime Video’s movie charts months after release. The movie has entered the platform’s Top 10, giving the action film a second wave of attention. The R-rated thriller performed well in theatres earlier this year, but its arrival on streaming has introduced it to an audience that missed it in theatres.

A Working Man finds resurgence streaming on Prime Video

According to Flix Patrol, A Working Man is now sitting at No. 9 on Prime Video’s Top 10 Movies list, showing that Statham’s action-packed projects still interest fans. Directed by David Ayer, A Working Man follows Jason Statham as Levon Cade, a former soldier who traded his dangerous past for a simple life in construction. But when his boss’ daughter is abducted by human traffickers, Cade is pulled back into the kind of world he thought he had left behind and sets out on a brutal mission to rescue her.

The film comes from Black Bear and Cedar Park Entertainment, with Ayer and Sylvester Stallone adapting Chuck Dixon’s novel Levon’s Trade. Joining Statham are David Harbour, Michael Peña, Jason Flemyng, Arianna Rivas, Emmett J. Scanlan, Eve Mauro and Maximilian Osinski.

Critics were somewhat divided on A Working Man, but general audiences welcomed it much more warmly. The action thriller currently holds an IMDb score of around 5.7/10, along with a 46% Tomatometer and a much stronger 87% Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes.

Many fans praised the movie’s no-nonsense approach, hard-hitting action sequences, and Jason Statham’s dependable screen presence. Fans appreciated that the film didn’t try to reinvent the action genre and instead focused on delivering exactly what it promised: straightforward, fast-paced entertainment. Some critics, however, argued that the story relied too heavily on familiar genre tropes and offered few surprises.

Critics may have been divided, but audiences showed up where it mattered most. Made on a reported budget of around $40 million, A Working Man went on to bring in roughly $89 million worldwide, turning it into another box-office win (via Box Office Mojo). That success also kept the Jason Statham and David Ayer partnership on a hot streak, following The Beekeeper.
