Watch Keanu Reeves’ Famous $350M Action Blockbuster Before It Leaves Streaming

Keanu Reeves’ iconic action thriller is about to hit the road again, but Netflix subscribers have limited time to catch it. The $350 million box office hit will leave the streaming service very soon. So fans have one last chance to revisit the high-speed classic before it disappears from the platform.

Speed will leave Netflix in November

As per What’s on Netflix, Netflix subscribers have until Nov. 1 to catch Speed before it leaves the platform. Released in 1994, the film stars Reeves, Sandra Bullock and Dennis Hopper, with Jan de Bont directing and 20th Century Fox distributing the movie.

In the movie, Los Angeles becomes a rolling nightmare when a city bus turns into a high-speed death trap, with one terrifying catch. If the bus slows down below 50 mph, the bomb onboard goes off. Keanu Reeves plays Jack Traven, who must keep the vehicle moving, while Sandra Bullock’s Annie Porter finds herself behind the wheel and Dennis Hopper’s Howard Payne drives the deadly scheme.

Speed has done more than coast on nostalgia. Its ratings show that the 1994 thriller still holds up with modern viewers. The movie scored 7.3/10 on IMDb, alongside a 95% critics’ rating and 77% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Its box office run was equally impressive. With a reported production budget of $30 million, the film pulled in approximately $350.4 million worldwide, including $121.2 million across the U.S. and Canada, according to Box Office Mojo. That haul turned the high-octane thriller into a financial win for 20th Century Fox.

Hollywood tried to recreate the magic in 1997 with Speed 2: Cruise Control, without Keanu Reeves. Sandra Bullock returned, joined by Jason Patric, while Jan de Bont took the director’s chair again. The cruise-ship thriller collected $164 million globally on a reported $110 million budget. Although the film generated revenue, it failed to match the original’s cultural punch.
