According to Deadline, Bibb will star alongside Mendes, who returns as the lead actress and a producer. Becca Gleason will direct the sequel, with Luke Roberts and Justin Matthews writing the screenplay after penning the original movie.

Amazon MGM Studios has secured worldwide distribution rights to the sequel. The film will be available in more than 240 countries and territories through Prime Video. However, the filmmakers have kept Bibb’s character and other story details under wraps.

What we know about Camila Mendes’ Upgraded sequel so far

Upgraded 2 will continue the franchise established by the 2024 romantic comedy. The original film followed Ana, an ambitious intern at a New York City art auction house. During a trip to London, she pretended to be her boss to impress a wealthy man. As their romance deepened, her deception threatened both her career and relationship.

The sequel reunites Mendes with the original screenwriters, although Gleason will direct. Gulfstream Pictures and Honor Role are the production houses, alongside Luber Roklin Entertainment and Tempo Productions.

Mike Karz and Bill Bindley will produce for Gulfstream Pictures, while Mendes and Rachel Matthews will represent Honor Role. Lena Roklin will produce for Luber Roklin Entertainment, and Piers Tempest will represent Tempo Productions. No release date has been announced.

Bibb has earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her appearance in the final season of HBO’s Hacks. Her film work includes Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, Tag, and Juror #2.
