The director of The Beekeeper 2 has landed his next project. The filmmaker will helm a new action film reminiscent of two major blockbusters.
According to Deadline, Timo Tjahjanto will direct The Burnout, an upcoming action film from Miramax. The project has been described as a blend of The Big Lebowski meets Jason Bourne. Tom O’Connor will write the screenplay, with Hunter Toro handling the latest revisions. Arianna D’Andrea, Miramax’s VP of Film Production and Development reportedly brought the project to the studio.
The deal highlights Miramax CEO Jonathan Glickman’s strategy to develop fresh original intellectual property alongside selectively mining the studio’s extensive archive library.
