The Best ’80s Songs ‘Stranger Things’ Should Feature in Season 5

From the start of the first season, on top of being a glut of ’80s nostalgia, Stranger Things has been littered with memorable, iconic music from the late ’70s to the ’80s. In the fourth and most recent season alone, Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” and Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” have had major influences on episodes. And, due to being featured on the show, both have jumped up the charts for the first time in decades. That’s the Stranger Things effect when it comes to music.

While the atmospheric ’80s soundtrack (including the opening credits) is memorable as well, it makes us wonder what hits viewers are in store for when the fifth and final season eventually streams on Netflix. On top of Kate Bush and Metallica, previous seasons have featured The Talking Heads, Jim Croce, The Police, Peter Gabriel, Madonna, and even Musical Youth. All of the listed songs were either well-suited for the background in a scene or as the centerpiece to an important event in the show.

While we have no idea when the fifth season will drop on the streaming platform (since we waited years for Season 4), we are eagerly awaiting what music will play a part in the final, epic, likely explosive season. The 1980s were filled with amazing bands and songs that are perfectly suitable for this dark, thrilling show. Will we be treated to some REM, Tears for Fears, INXS, Bonnie Tyler, or Cyndi Lauper? Only time will tell.

While we can’t wait to see Stranger Things’ epic conclusion, we’re just as excited about the music. Keep scrolling to see 10 songs we hope to hear in Season 5. In the meantime, make a playlist of the previous season’s songs and rock out to the sounds of Stranger Things.
