Fans hoping to watch the Stranger Things Season 5 finale on the big screen are finding issues getting tickets. The passes for the event are being released with some steep resale prices.
Netflix and the Duffer brothers have announced that the final episode of this installment will screen in select theaters as well as stream online. This has prompted many fans to book tickets already, and now, some are reselling them on eBay.
Stranger Things Season 5 finale tickets listed for $150 on eBay
Within a day of tickets being made available for screenings of Stranger Things Season 5 Episode 8, “The Rightside Up,” sellers began listing seats on sites like eBay. One listing sold two tickets for $150 for a Cinemark XD showing in The Woodlands, Texas.
This was a dramatic jump over the venue’s $20 concession voucher, which many theaters required buyers to purchase to hold a seat. By that math, the resale represents about a 275% hike over the voucher price. Other resales have varied by location. Another eBay post offered four AMC 34th St. seats for $80, which is effectively at the market price.
Some fans are pointing out that there are still unsold seats at certain locations. They think that social channels are a safer place to track the fair-priced passes. They think that Facebook groups and other local forums must be checked to find tickets. This will prevent them from buying at an inflated price.
Some frustration among fans has stemmed from how the chains handled the sale. Several theater chains sold “concession vouchers” that doubled as seat reservations. This surprised many buyers and created the impression that seats went on sale earlier than advertised. One Reddit user voiced their opinion and said, “Cinemark and Regal completely lied about when finale tickets go on sale.”
Another person on the same thread described their own trouble, “I finally got a ticket to an 8:15 showing after much aggravation and confusion… Regal app had them, went early Tuesday, selected my seat, then it asked about a concession voucher. I didn’t want that, but it wouldn’t let me move ahead to get my ticket.”
