The One Piece x Popeyes collaboration has sparked a frenzy online, with some users reselling the special-edition bento box on eBay for staggering profits. This comes less than two days after the limited-time offer was released.
One Piece and Popeyes’ limited edition bento box reselling on eBay for $499
One Piece recently collaborated with Popeyes on a limited-edition meal and merchandise. The US fast-food chain opened the offer to the public on April 13 at only six locations, prompting fans of the manga and anime to flock to them. This offer includes themed food items and a special edition Luffy-themed bento box. Moreover, some people reportedly even have the chance to get the bento box for free.
While some fans are still queuing up to get their hands on the merchandise, many people who already snagged it are reselling it online. Over the last few hours, many eBay users have listed their bento boxes for as high as $550. In contrast, Popeyes is charging only $7.99, which also includes two pieces of Popeyes Signature Chicken and mac and cheese.
The other limited-time food items included Gum-Gum Fruit Lemonade and Chopper’s Cupcake. Although these items are available individually, fans can buy them as a meal, called the Luffy Bento Bundle. It will include all the products mentioned above at $13.99. On eBay, however, a user is selling the bundle at $1,000.
Meanwhile, some users are selling the cardboard box that the meal came in. Notably, these are not regular Popeyes’ cardboard boxes, but rather have Luffy printed on the top. Some are selling these for between $12 and $25. However, one user is trying to sell it for a whopping $2,500.
Since the offer is still ongoing, fans have continued to show up at the locations. A user named Ađam shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) from outside a Popeyes’ branch in New Jersey. They wrote, “Went to the Popeyes in NJ, tell me why the line wraps the building, the stretches past the parking lot, down the block, and around a corner into another restaurant’s parking lot.”
