The Simpsons’ has been on since before most of us were born. If you’re someone in your thirties, that’s pretty crazy to think about. As long as we’ve watched television, we’ve been greeted with the mischievous Bart Simpson, annoyingly happy neighbor Ned Flanders, boring, bashful Milhouse Van Houten, and grumpy, grizzled local bartender Moe Szyslak. We know them as one-dimensional cartoons. But now, thanks to an Instagram artist, we know what they’d all look like in real life. And it’s shocking, to say the least.

Bored Panda contributor and artist Hidreley Dia uses three apps – FaceApp, Gradients, and Remini – to create lifelike versions of famous cartoon characters, paintings, and historical figures. Recently, on his Instagram, on top of many other iconic historic figures both real and fictional, he added a few images of well-known characters from ‘The Simpsons.’

We’ve seen three-dimensional versions of cartoon characters in the past and they’ve been fairly nightmarish. The thing that’s intriguing about Dia’s images is the melding of the various AI-driven apps to create images that look like photographs.

They have to be seen to be believed and one look will make you completely rethink how you envisioned any of these popular characters and how they’d appear like real people. Also, if ‘The Simpsons’ isn’t your thing, take a look at his other creations including Peter Pan, Mona Lisa, and Carl from ‘Up.’
