I mean, what else do you do in that situation?

Let’s all meet Simon Smith. This poor bloke was walking down a street in Reading, England when out of no where a reckless driver behind the wheel of a double decker bus crashes in to him and sends him flying. So in this situation, if you survive, you’re probably just going to chill on your back until emergency services arrive. But not Simon Smith, no. Simon Smith got up, dusted himself off and entered a bar for a cold one.

Take a look at the crazy video below thanks to Twitter.

And guess what? Smith walked away with just minor injuries. Now while Smith did enter a bar right after the crash it was probably just for assistance as around a dozen people tended to him. But hey, after being hit by a bus you could probably use a pint or two.

Following the crash the bus was left with a shattered windshield, and the street was closed for two hours while an investigation was conducted. So far no one has been arrested yet.

Here’s what Reading Buses, the folks behind the bus company, had to say about all this:

“We are obviously shocked by the incident as well as the very graphic footage that has been shared a number of times. Thankfully, the pedestrian does not have any major injuries and there were no major injuries to passengers on the bus.

The incident is the subject of an ongoing internal investigation as well as an investigation by the police with whom we are working and sharing footage from our on-board CCTV, so it would be inappropriate for us to comment or speculate on this until it has run its course. We can assure the public that all our drivers are incredibly professional and trained to the highest standard. Our buses receive regular checks by our award-winning engineering department.

We send our regrets to those affected, especially the pedestrian injured in the street and hope that he is recovering from his injuries.”

Certainly doesn’t look like all their drivers are “trained to the highest standard,” because I don’t know many bus training courses that teach you to run folks over.
