Netflix’s ‘Lost in Space’ Adds Molly Parker In Leading Role

Former House of Cards actress Molly Parker is reuniting with Netflix, but staying as far away from Washington D.C. as anyone could possibly get!

Deadline is reporting that Parker has been signed to play Maureen Robinson, one of the leading roles in the upcoming reboot of Irwin Allen’s Lost In Space series. Black Sails star, Toby Stephens has already been cast as Maureen’s husband, John Robinson. As in the original series, the Robinsons are aerospace engineers who decided to take their children with them on a mission to colonize a distant planet. However, an attempt to sabotage the mission by Dr. Zachary Smith sent the ship wildly off course, with Smith trapped onboard with the Robinsons.

Maxwell Jenkins will play Will Robinson, the only son and the youngest child in the family. Taylor Russell will portray Judy, the older of two daughters in the family. Still to be cast are Doctor Smith, Will and Judy’s sister, Penny Robinson, and Major Don West, the pilot of the Jupiter 2 spaceship that becomes the Robinsons’ makeshift home.

Netflix has pretty grand ambitions for Lost In Space, as the streaming service currently lacks a real sci-fi series to call its own. Screenwriters Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless created the current take on the series, which was previously rebooted as a feature film and a TV series that did not go forward at The WB.

Lost In Space won’t debut on Netflix until 2018, so it’s gonna be a long wait to see how this one turns out. But the casting news suggests that the show will begin production within the next few months. In the meantime, Parker is already lined up for one season of the Amazon original series, Goliath, alongside Billy Bob Thornton and William Hurt.
