Comic-Con 2016: Batman & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Will Reunite

Last year at Comic-Con, DC Comics and IDW announced a crossover miniseries that brought the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Gotham City for a team up with the Dark Knight himself: Batman! And now it’s time for Batman to go the New York City inhabited by the TMNT. But it’s not the Batman you may have expected!

Via Nerdist, IDW, and DC jointly announced a six-issue inter-company crossover that acts as a spiritual sequel to the first meeting between Batman and the TMNT. Batman/TMNT Adventures will be a six-issue miniseries that features the Dark Knight from the beloved Batman: The Animated Series alongside the Turtles from the current TMNT animated series on Nickelodeon.

Matthew K. Manning will be the writer of the new crossover, while Jon Sommariva will be the artist and the cover artist for the miniseries. It’s an appropriate creative team, as Manning has experience writing for both Batman and TMNT, while Sommairva was the artist for TMNT Adventures. Most of the story details are still under wraps, but we do know that Batman will be investigating the apparent disappearance of his most famous villains, almost all of whom have found a way to travel to the world of the TMNT. So, it seems like a safe assumption that the iconic members of Batman’s rogues gallery will have a sizable role.

Batman/TMNT Adventures # 1 will be released on Wednesday, November 9.
