Daft Punk and KPop Demon Hunters Team Up in Unexpected Crossover

Daft Punk and Netflix’s K-Pop Demon Hunters came together in an unexpected crossover as LEGO brought characters from different entertainment franchises together for its latest holiday commercial.

The toy company featured the French electronic duo alongside Derpy Tiger from the animated film in a festive campaign directed by Michael Gracey, who previously worked on The Greatest Showman and Better Man.

LEGO’s holiday commercial features a surprising mix of entertainment favorites

LEGO brought several familiar characters together in a 74-second advertisement featuring Daft Punk’s 2000 hit “One More Time.”

The commercial followed a small LEGO brick through an imaginative workshop, where different characters helped create a holiday gift.

Alongside the Daft Punk LEGO appearance, the advertisement featured Marvel characters Thor, Doctor Doom, and Mystique.

E.T. from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and Derpy Tiger from KPop Demon Hunters also appeared, bringing together characters from different films and franchises.

As per Variety, Gracey explained that he wanted to explore the possibilities of a hidden world built entirely from LEGO bricks.

The filmmaker developed the commercial around the journey of a single brick, which traveled through the workshop and connected the different characters.

Although the advertisement featured both entertainment properties, the KPop Demon Hunters crossover did not involve an announced standalone collaboration between the animated film and Daft Punk.

The campaign also followed LEGO’s recent announcement of a broader partnership with the electronic music duo.

On October 22, the company unveiled plans to collaborate with Daft Punk on products, entertainment content, and live experiences.

The agreement included a forthcoming LEGO Ideas set inspired by the duo’s 2007 Alive tour.

The planned model recreated the pyramid stage associated with their performances. A father-and-son team from Luxembourg originally designed and submitted the concept.

LEGO subsequently approved the fan-created project for development and is expected to share further details in 2027.

The holiday advertisement also followed another entertainment-themed LEGO release earlier in the year.

In August, the company introduced a 1,478-piece set based on the science-fiction series The X-Files.

Gillian Anderson, who portrayed Dana Scully in the original television series, participated in a promotional short film accompanying the product’s release.
