Flyysoulja has opened up about his recent hospitalization, explaining that it involved drug use. The Island Boys star said he experienced drug-induced psychosis rather than an overdose, attributing the episode to substance use and sleep deprivation. He also revealed that he is now taking medication and attending therapy.
Flyysoulja says drug use and sleep deprivation led to his hospitalization
Flyysoulja, whose real name is Alex Venegas, told TMZ that doctors clarified his diagnosis following his hospitalization. He attributed the episode to drug use and prolonged sleep deprivation. According to Flyysoulja, medical professionals recognized the psychotic episode early and intervened immediately. He also said doctors did not administer Narcan, a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses.
The rapper said he is taking medication that helps him stay sober. He also revealed that he is attending therapy and feeling comfortable in his own skin. However, he has no plans to enter rehab at the moment. Instead, he plans to return to making music and preparing a video for an upcoming project.
His explanation follows his hospitalization at a Miami trauma unit on October 29. The rapper previously told TMZ that he had taken cocaine, benzodiazepines, and Percocet before the incident. He said the incident occurred while he was celebrating the purchase of a new condominium and car. He also reported undergoing an involuntary mental health evaluation under Florida’s Baker Act before his release on November 2.
This was not the rapper’s first reported drug-related episode. In November 2025, he unknowingly livestreamed himself searching for a hair product after reportedly taking multiple substances. He also damaged parts of his home before authorities detained him for a mental health evaluation under the Baker Act. He later insisted that substance use, rather than an underlying mental health condition, had caused the episode.
In January 2026, Flyysoulja announced plans to enter rehab to address his substance use issues. He said he wanted to make a fresh start and become a better father.
