Macklemore’s US Tour faces pushback following the issues surrounding venues. The rapper is facing issues performing his Free Palestine tour, which benefits charity organizations, raising questions about the challenges he is facing for his upcoming tour.
Macklemore claims nine arenas declined his Palestine benefit concerts
Macklemore took to Instagram to share the issues he is facing in organizing his Free Palestine U.S. tour. The rapper claims he is being denied nine arenas for the concerts. He said, “From the beginning, our plan was to bring this tour home to the U.S. But after weeks of reaching out, nine major American arenas have turned us down.”
The rapper named all these arenas, including Chase Center in San Francisco, Madison Square Garden, Prudential Center, Barclays Center, and UBS Arena in the New York area, Kia Forum, Intuit Dome, and Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, and Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.
He also revealed these arenas were open to having his shows; however, they turned down when they learned about his tour.
Macklemore said, “The intimidation, manipulation and suppression I experienced are part of how those in power keep entertainers quiet. It’s their main tactic to keep us in line. Shut up and dribble, or you will be punished. But at this point, I’m three years past giving two sh*ts about maintaining any relationships, business or personal, with anyone that isn’t riding for a Free Palestine.”
The rapper said they received available dates at these arenas through the end of 2026. However, when the venue owners found out the benefits of the concert were offered to Palestine, they allegedly declined.
He added, “But this is not an isolated incident. For decades, activists, poets, writers, musicians and entertainers who have stood in solidarity with the Palestinian people have faced consequences for doing so. Many have paid a far greater price than I have.” (via Just Jared)
The Thrift Shop singer performed three shows in Europe last week benefiting organizations that support humanitarian assistance, medical care, and other support in Palestine.
