Jon Gosselin says he has been out of touch with his eldest daughters, Madelyn and Cara. The Jon & Kate Plus 8 alum admitted that he might not even recognize the 26-year-olds if he crossed paths with them. He has reportedly been estranged from them since they turned 13.

Speaking on the November 3 episode of the Legally Goff podcast, Jon admitted that he has not been part of his daughters’ lives for years. “I haven’t seen Mady and Cara in like forever,” Jon said. “Yeah, I wouldn’t be able to pick them out in the street. I have pictures of them, but I still wouldn’t be able to pick them out on the street. That’s how much I haven’t seen them.”
He continued, “I missed graduations. I missed proms. I was alienated from all that stuff.” Adding, “I don’t know anything about my twins, if they have boyfriends or girlfriends, or what favorite color they have now, if they drive a car. I know nothing.”
Jon shares his twins with his ex-wife, Kate Gosselin, 51. The former couple finalized their divorce in December 2009. In addition to the twins, they share six other children: Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, and Joel.
Jon & Kate Plus 8 aired for 11 seasons from 2007 to 2017. The series followed Jon and his then-wife, Kate, as they raised their eight children. Following their 2009 divorce, the show continued as Kate Plus 8. The series first aired on Discovery Health before moving to TLC. During its run, it became one of TLC’s highest-rated programs.
Netflix has announced a new documentary centered on the Gosselin family. Jon and his children, Collin and Hannah, are filming the project, which will look back at their time on the reality series Jon & Kate Plus 8. While the documentary’s title and release date remain unannounced, Mike Gasparro and Julia Willoughby Nason are set to produce it. Netflix confirmed the news in an October 21 post on Tudum.
