Kody Brown apparently marked the end of his relationship with Meri Brown with an unusual parting gift. The former Sister Wives couple now has a “divorce ring” to add to their complicated history. Even more amusingly, the Kody Brown divorce ring was considerably larger than Meri’s original wedding ring. She could not resist pointing out what that might say about her ex-husband.
Meri Brown jokes about Kody’s oversized gift
Meri showed off both rings while having her jewelry appraised in a preview of the November 1 episode of Sister Wives, according to Us Weekly.
Her wedding ring featured a small stone on a simple gold double band. By comparison, the ring Kody gave her when their relationship ended featured a much larger yellow-orange stone.
“Wedding ring? Divorce ring? Which one is he most excited about?” Meri joked.
Even the appraiser noticed the difference. He quipped that Kody looked “happier about the divorce than the marriage” based on the rings’ sizes.
Meri agreed that the oversized gift seemed to send a message.
However, the ring was not nearly as expensive as its appearance suggested. The appraiser identified the piece as silver and said the stone might be a Mexican fire opal. He estimated its value at roughly $200 to $300.
Janelle Brown laughed at the estimate, while Christine Brown questioned whether Kody had selected the ring himself. Christine suggested Robyn Brown may have picked it out, and Meri admitted she had wondered the same thing.
The jewelry story adds another unusual chapter to Meri and Kody’s long breakup. Meri recently admitted she stayed in the relationship partly out of stubbornness because she wanted Kody to acknowledge that their marriage was over.
Their disagreements also continued after the split. Meri later accused Kody and Robyn of owing her money connected to their family finances.
These days, Meri has moved forward. She revealed a new relationship earlier this year and said she feels happy.
As for the divorce ring, Meri appears happy to laugh about it now. Its size may have made a memorable impression, but its price tag was considerably more modest.
