Sean “Diddy” Combs’ family pushed back against reports that he fought a notorious Jamaican drug lord in prison. The denial followed news that the rapper had been taken to a hospital after suffering a head injury at Fort Dix in New Jersey.
The 56-year-old music mogul reportedly injured his head over the weekend, but his loved ones remained unsure how it happened. Their response also raised questions about how details of his medical visit reached the press.
Diddy’s family denies reports of a prison fight with Jamaican kingpin
Radio host Loren LoRosa discussed the controversy on Thursday’s episode of The Breakfast Club. She said a family member told her reports of a fight were “completely false” and insisted “there was not a fight at all.” The initial report said Combs hit his head on a bunk bed. However, TMZ later alleged he had an altercation with Christopher Coke, the Jamaican drug kingpin known as “Dudus.”
LoRosa challenged that account by pointing to the prison’s security arrangements. She said Combs remained “guarded” during his daily break outside the Special Housing Unit (SHU). She also noted that the two men were on “completely different sides” of the prison.
Although the family could not confirm what caused Sean Diddy Combs head injury, LoRosa said relatives maintained “it definitely wasn’t anything crazy.” She added that Combs returned to jail after his hospital visit and remained there. His loved ones were also reportedly upset that news of the medical incident had become public. “No one should know he was taken to the hospital,” LoRosa said, adding that the family wanted to clarify the reports.
Charlamagne Tha God speculated that someone close to Combs might have publicized the story to suggest he was “not safe” behind bars. He also argued the rapper should keep a low profile while serving his sentence.
Combs was convicted on two counts of transportation for prostitution in 2025 and received a 50-month prison sentence. His representative previously told Page Six the team could not independently verify the alleged fight and remained concerned about his health.
Meanwhile, a Federal Bureau of Prisons representative confirmed to the outlet that an altercation between Combs and Coke “did not happen.”
