Elon Musk’s Ex Justine Wilson Revisits Rift With his Daughter Vivian

Elon Musk‘s first wife, Justine Wilson, has revisited the strained relationship between her daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, and her ex-husband. In Alex Gibney’s upcoming documentary ‘Musk’, the author recalls how their disagreements began during Vivian’s childhood. And she describes her as the most openly defiant of the five children she shares with the billionaire.

Justine Wilson says Vivian was the most openly defiant of her and Elon Musk’s five children

According to People, Wilson, who married Musk in 2000 and divorced him in 2008, described Vivian, now 22, as strong-willed. She said, “Elon and I had five kids and the one who was most openly defiant was Jenna [Vivian’s middle name].”

When Vivian was six, Musk reportedly asked her, “In this world there are winners and losers.” He then added, “Do you want to be a winner or do you want to be a loser?”

Wilson interpreted the remark as pressure to obey him, explaining, “The subtext there was, ‘If you do not follow me and do what I say, you will be a loser.’”

Wilson also discussed the pain Vivian experienced after Musk publicly claimed on X that he had lost his daughter to the “woke mind virus.” “And Elon never tried to repair things, that’s not in his nature,” Wilson said, adding, “If a relationship ruptures, then it ruptures.”

Furthermore, Wilson recalled that Musk treated Vivian’s transition as the “death of a child.” In response, she reminded him of their first son, Nevada, who died from sudden infant death syndrome at 10 weeks old in 2002. “‘And what’s really happening here is this is a child growing up,’” she recalled saying.

Wilson also alleged that Musk asked her to tell Vivian, “I’ll always love her,” before cutting off her health insurance the following day, after Vivian came out as transgender.

Meanwhile, Vivian, a model and activist who dropped her father’s surname in 2022, has spoken about their differences. In a September interview with People, she criticized artificial intelligence for taking away the human intention behind art.

Gibney’s documentary explores Musk’s personal life and career. Elon Musk did not participate in the film and has called it a “hit piece.” Musk is scheduled for nationwide release on October 16.
