Robert Kraft Lectures Macklemore About ‘Crossing the Line’ Despite His Own Scandals

Robert Kraft has responded to Macklemore’s claims about Ed Sheeran’s upcoming concerts. The Patriots owner defended his decision involving the rapper’s scheduled performances at Gillette Stadium, saying Macklemore’s recent actions crossed an unacceptable line.

Robert Kraft says Macklemore crossed a line ahead of Ed Sheeran’s Gillette Stadium concerts.

Kraft said he did not want Macklemore performing at Gillette Stadium, according to TMZ. The decision followed the rapper’s recent pro-Palestine comments and stage imagery. Macklemore had performed alongside Sheeran during concerts in New Jersey.

Kraft said Gillette Stadium has a responsibility to maintain a welcoming environment. “Gillette Stadium has a longstanding commitment to providing a welcoming environment for all guests,” he said. He added that events should not provide “a platform for hate speech.”

Kraft specifically cited Macklemore’s recent performances and public statements. He also referenced what he described as the rapper’s broader history of antisemitic rhetoric. “Based on Macklemore’s recent actions,” Kraft said, his participation would “cross that line.”

Macklemore was expected to perform during Sheeran’s September concerts at Gillette Stadium, which are scheduled for September 25 and September 26. The decision came after Macklemore appeared with Sheeran at the singer’s New Jersey concerts.

Kraft insisted the decision was not intended to silence Palestinian advocacy. “This decision is not about diminishing the suffering of innocent Palestinians,” he said. He acknowledged that Palestinians’ suffering remains a serious issue.

“Their pain and loss are real,” Kraft continued. However, he argued that advocacy should also acknowledge Hamas’ actions. “I agree with Macklemore,” Kraft said, while criticizing what he described as selective information.

The dispute has reportedly strained Macklemore’s friendship with Sheeran. Kraft, meanwhile, continued praising Sheeran and his relationship with the stadium.

“I have tremendous respect for Ed and his music,” Kraft said. He praised Sheeran’s ability to bring people together and spread joy. Kraft said he remained proud to welcome Sheeran and his fans.

Kraft also said he would welcome a direct conversation with Macklemore. “I would welcome the opportunity to sit down with Macklemore,” he said. The dispute adds another point of tension ahead of Sheeran’s upcoming concerts.
