Zach Bryan Smashes Stadium Record With an Unexpected Twist

Zach Bryan made history at Gillette Stadium while also drawing attention for what he wore onstage. The country singer broke the venue’s attendance record during his second Foxborough show. Bryan performed in a “Free Palestine” shirt for the second night in a row, adding a political element to the record-setting concert.

Bryan performed for 73,538 fans on Oct. 3, marking the largest crowd in Gillette Stadium history. The venue celebrated the milestone in an Instagram post.

According to TMZ, Bryan wore the pro-Palestinian shirt during both nights at the stadium. The shirt read “Free Palestine” and also featured the phrase “An Appeal to Heaven” with a pine tree graphic. Other coverage also confirmed the design.

Bryan’s bandmates joined the display.

Drummer Nate Head wore a Palestine jersey honoring Hind Rajab, a 5-year-old Palestinian girl who was killed in Gaza in 2024. Guitarist Noah Le Gros also appeared in a Palestine-themed jersey.

The timing drew extra attention because Gillette Stadium owner Robert Kraft was recently involved in a controversy over pro-Palestinian messages.

The timing also echoed the recent Macklemore controversy. Macklemore alleged that Kraft and other venue owners had pressured Ed Sheeran’s tour over his place on the lineup.

Sheeran later said the decision to remove Macklemore from the tour was not his alone. Kraft, meanwhile, said the rapper’s recent actions and what he described as a broader history of antisemitic rhetoric and imagery led the stadium to determine that Macklemore’s participation would cross the venue’s stated line.

Bryan did not give a lengthy political speech from the stage. Instead, the shirt carried the message while he focused on the performance. The singer has spoken out on cultural issues before. Earlier this year, he mocked Kid Rock’s alternative Super Bowl halftime show as “embarrassing.”

Still, this appearance stood out because of the setting.

Bryan broke the attendance record at Gillette Stadium while wearing a shirt supporting Palestine, drawing attention to both the concert milestone and the political context surrounding the venue.
