Travis Barker says sharing IVF heartbreak and miscarriage helps other struggling couples
In an interview on The New York Times’ Popcast, Barker elaborated on why he and Kardashian Barker decided to share their experience in his documentary on Hulu, Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear. The musician said that they wanted people to feel a connection to their story and comfort in it. “When there’s things that can benefit people or help people relate to something, I think that’s always like a green light,” he said. Kourtney has always tried to help others by sharing personal moments, he added.
They had experienced multiple miscarriages, a failed IVF and finally had a baby on their own, Barker said. “Our journey of miscarriages and then IVF and it’s failed, resulting in us having a baby naturally — like I feel like that’s a story that so many people can relate [to],” he shared. He said the interview style of the documentary helped to make the topic come up naturally. The discussions allowed Barker to provide further information and detail to the filmmakers in response to their follow-up questions, he said.
Barker and Kardashian welcomed their son Rocky Thirteen in November 2023. Their blended family includes seven children, including Kourtney’s three children with Scott Disick, Travis’ two children with Shanna Moakler, his stepdaughter Atiana De La Hoya and their son Rocky. Kourtney has mentioned before that it took time and adjustment to blend their families.
In a February 2025 episode of The Kardashians, Kourtney admitted that it was a big adjustment for the whole family to live together. She explained that her stepchildren had lived in their home their entire lives, making the transition different. She said the family reached an “amazing place” after adjusting to their new life together. Kourtney also recently shared family moments with Rocky and his siblings on Instagram, showing their bond.
