Aniya Harvey says she and Carl Schmidt are doing well while focusing on their careers after Love Island USA
Speaking to E! News at the 2026 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, Aniya Harvey offered an encouraging relationship update. “We’re really just focused on like our work right now and just building that up,” she said about her relationship with Carl Schmidt.
The update comes after a busy few months for Harvey. In September, she told E! that she wanted to pursue more entertainment opportunities after Love Island USA. She specifically mentioned Dancing with the Stars and The Traitors as shows she would love to join. She also said she remained open to whatever opportunities came her way.
Harvey and Schmidt met during Love Island USA Season 8, when Schmidt entered as a Casa Amor bombshell. Their relationship did not get off to a smooth start. Harvey initially remained loyal to KC Chandler, leading to Schmidt’s exit from the villa. However, viewers later voted him back in, giving the pair another chance to explore their connection.
That second chance paid off. Harvey and Schmidt became fan favorites during Season 8 and ultimately finished as runners-up. After filming, they chose not to rush into defining their relationship. Instead, they continued talking daily while navigating the distance between them and adjusting to life after the show.
By the reunion, Harvey said the pair were still taking things slowly. She also revealed that their families had grown close and that she FaceTimed Schmidt more than any other Islander. Schmidt similarly said they felt happy together but needed space to adjust after the whirlwind of filming.
Now, the latest update on Aniya Harvey and Carl Schmidt suggests that their approach has not changed much. They are still moving forward, but work and new career opportunities remain a major focus as their lives expand beyond Love Island USA.
