According to an insider, Harry has long felt comfortable in Australia and believes the country could offer a “fresh start” for both his family and professional ambitions. The source added that Meghan has also shown interest in expanding her business ventures there, making Australia an increasingly attractive destination for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Reports that the federal government reversed an earlier decision to reduce funding for Invictus Australia and restored support estimated at roughly $3 million annually have renewed focus on Australia.

The country has played an important role in Harry and Meghan’s story from the beginning. During their highly publicized royal tour in 2018, Australia warmly welcomed the newly married couple. At the time, Meghan was pregnant with Prince Archie. Eventually, the visit was widely regarded as one of the most successful overseas visits of their royal careers.

Harry and Meghan visited Australia in mid-April 2026 for a four-day unofficial tour. They traveled through Melbourne, Canberra, and Sydney. Funded privately, the publicized trip included charity visits, events supporting military veterans, and several commercial appearances.

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet did not accompany Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on their recent trip. Nevertheless, sources claim Harry remains eager to strengthen his family’s connection to a place where he has always felt at home.

The Sussexes visited Australia after traveling to Jordan on February 25 and 26. This was part of a visit conducted in partnership with the World Health Organization.
