Watch The New Teaser For ‘Doctor Who’ Season 8

“I see into your soul, Doctor. I see beauty, divinity… hatred!”

In eight weeks, the eighth season of “Doctor Who” will usher in a new era for the series as Peter Capaldi takes over the role of the Doctor for his first adventure.

BBC’s previous teaser trailers have hinted that Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor may be much darker than his most recent youthful incarnations as portrayed by David Tennant and Matt Smith. In the new teaser trailer released today, an ominous voice praises the Doctor’s capacity for hatred as the TARDIS suffers heavy damage and the Doctor gets quite a shock.

As for the identity of the speaker, the smart money is on the Dalek Prime Minister from “Asylum of the Daleks,” who had a similar view of beauty and the Doctor. But, I wouldn’t rule out Davros, the creator of the Daleks who hasn’t been seen on “Doctor Who” since the end of the fourth season.

The upcoming season will also be Jenna Coleman’s first full run of episodes as Clara, the Doctor’s newest companion. Danny Pink (Samuel Anderson) may also be joining the crew of the TARDIS this season, as he is one of Clara’s close friends and a fellow teacher at Coal Hill School.

“Doctor Who” Season 8 will premiere on Saturday, August 23 on BBC One and BBC America. BBC isn’t bringing the “Doctor Who” cast to Comic-Con this year, but Capaldi and Coleman will be coming to New York on Thursday, August 14 as part of the “Doctor Who” world tour.
