Marvel’s street-level heroes may have just found their biggest stage yet. A new report suggests a beloved superhero team from Marvel Television’s Netflix era will make the jump to the big screen.
The Defenders’ next appearance after Daredevil: Born Again rumored to be revealed
The Defenders’ next appearance after Daredevil: Born Again may come in Avengers: Secret Wars. Specifically, scooper MyTimeToShineHello responded with “Secret Wars” on X when Defenders Updates shared a report from My Cosmic Circus. That report stated the Defenders will return in future MCU projects after Daredevil: Born Again Season 3.
MyTimeToShineHello’s response suggests Secret Wars serves as one such project for the team. The scooper has a mixed but notable track record with Marvel leaks. Another industry insider, MagicalErod, replied “Yup” to the post, seemingly corroborating the claim.
Meanwhile, Avengers: Secret Wars arrives in theaters on December 17, 2027. The Russo Brothers direct the film, with Robert Downey Jr. starring as Doctor Doom. Furthermore, Stephen McFeely, Chris McKenna, and Erik Sommers wrote the script.
Notably, the film already boasts a massive ensemble cast. Charlie Cox currently leads Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+. However, Marvel has not officially confirmed his involvement in Secret Wars yet. Still, the franchise regularly saves cast announcements for major events.
For context, the original Defenders series debuted on Netflix on August 18, 2017. It united Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist against the Hand. Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and Finn Jones starred alongside Cox. The series later moved to Disney+ in March 2022.
Since then, Marvel Studios has gradually reintegrated the Netflix characters into the MCU. Cox appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Similarly, Vincent D’Onofrio returned as Kingpin in Hawkeye and Echo. A full Defenders reunion in Secret Wars would certainly continue that trajectory.
