RHOC’s Gina Kirschenheiter Wants Everyone to Know She Was Never Poor

Gina Kirschenheiter wants to clear up one persistent misconception about her early years on The Real Housewives of Orange County. Despite the nickname “Casita Gina,” she insists she was never raising her children in a tiny guesthouse.

The issue resurfaced after Jenn Pedranti referenced Gina Kirschenheiter’s past while discussing her recent financial success. Gina Kirschenheiter quickly made it clear she did not appreciate the characterization.

Gina K fired back at Jenn Pedranti over a comment about her past

During the RHOC cast trip to Tokyo, Jenn Pedranti praised Gina Kirschenheiter for going “from the casita to the badass that she is now.” That prompted an immediate correction. “I was never poor!” Gina Kirschenheiter said, according to Bravo. Jenn Pedranti responded that she had not meant to suggest otherwise.

Gina Kirschenheiter then explained where the casita story actually came from. During her 2018 divorce from Matt Kirschenheiter, she owned a home in Coto de Caza. When Matt stayed there with their children every other weekend, Gina rented a casita from her trainer and used it as a temporary place to sleep.

The arrangement allowed their three children to stay in the family home instead of moving back and forth.

That history also came up during the recent RHOC Season 20 episode centered on the cast questioning Gina’s spending. Gina said the “Casita Gina” label bothers her because it suggests she lived there full time with her children.

The disagreement ties into a larger frustration for Gina this season. She recently called her castmates’ money lectures “insulting” after Heather Dubrow, Tamra Judge, and Jenn questioned her increased spending.

Gina maintains that she has always lived within her means. She says her recent success simply allows her to enjoy more expensive purchases without abandoning that approach.

Her living situation has certainly changed over the years. Gina and fiancé Travis Mullen eventually moved their blended family into a 2,800-square-foot, five-bedroom home.

Still, Gina’s point is not that she never faced difficult circumstances. She simply wants the Real Housewives narrative to get one detail straight: the casita was temporary, and she says poverty was never the reason she used it.
