Natasha Lyonne’s latest comments have prompted criticism and confusion online. This comes after her series of tweets were interpreted by fans as support and admiration for President Donald Trump.
In one post, Lyonne retweeted a video of Vice President JD Vance smearing a protester at a Republican campaign rally in Hendersonville, North Carolina. In the clip, a protester calling for the release of the Epstein files was escorted away, after which Vance made a remark implying that the man had crossed the border illegally.
Alongside the clip, the Orange Is the New Black actress shared, “Don’t really know how we arrived at this aesthetic as baseline normal, but c’est la dominoes, etc. Octavia Butler was a soothsayer. Grimey times.”
The tweet caught fire when confused fans started questioning her “prefer Trump” statement. One user wrote, “Prefer Trump? Girl, what are you smoking?” Meanwhile, another added, “Are you joking? This is a joke, right? Why would anyone prefer anyone who helped cover the Epstein files, supported friends of Epstein, and trashed the survivors, and tanked the global economy? No. You’re a fraud.”
Lyonne responded to one commenter by retweeting their post with the caption, “To insert Manchurian Candidate here?”
Natasha Lyonne’s Elon Musk repost sparks more questions from fans
Natasha Lyonne also faced confused and angry reactions from fans when she reposted the President’s comments about Elon Musk. After the tech billionaire announced his decision to gift one share of SpaceX stock to every child in America, Trump tweeted, “A big thank you to our legendary friend, @ElonMusk, for his incredible generosity in giving SpaceX stock to millions of American children through Trump Accounts! This is exactly what was envisioned when we created Trump Accounts…Thank you, Elon!”
This tweet was reposted by Lyonne, accompanied by four emojis: a rocket, a salute, the sun, and a face wearing sunglasses, as reported by The Daily Beast.
The actress sparked criticism for this as fans took it as an endorsement of Trump and Musk. One fan wrote, “You’re too cool to believe this stupid s***,” while another added, “Damn, it sucks to see someone you like publicly reveal themselves to be a complete self-oblivious idiot. Welp, you’ve lost a fan.”
The tweet was later deleted by Lyonne, who clarified that she’s “not MAGA” after an X user had asked, “So is Natasha Lyonne MAGA now or am I misreading her posts?”
Lyonne’s deleted repost and clarification have left fans debating her political stance.
