Ana Navarro reveals husband Al Cárdenas has been battling Parkinson’s disease for several years
Recently, the 54-year-old shared a glimpse into her personal life with fans on her official Instagram account. During the post, Ana Navarro revealed that her husband, Al Cárdenas, has been battling Parkinson’s disease for several years.
Ana said, “I had kept private for the last couple of years, my close friends and family all know, but it’s not something that I had shared with you. And it is that my husband has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s.”
“We’ve been learning to live with it. We’ve been adjusting, confronting the emotional and physical challenges that come with the disease.” She added
Ana continued “Building a team and learning to live a full life while dealing with Parkinson’s.”
Talking about Parkinson’s disease, it is a brain disorder that slowly damages the nerve cells in the brain that produce a chemical called, dopamine, that helps control smooth and balanced muscle movement.
There is currently no cure for Parkinson’s disease. Talking about whether the disease is life-threatening, it is not directly fatal in its early stages, but it can become life-threatening in later stages.
The 78-year-old is reportedly believed to have been suffering from the disease for around two years. However, Ana Navarro has not shared any information about which hospital Al Cárdenas is receiving treatment at.
For context, Michael J. Fox also developed the same disease when the Back to the Future star was only 29 years old. However, he has managed the disease and is now 65 years old.
