Aaron Rodgers has made some shocking claims about his former fiancée, Shailene Woodley. The NFL star also explained why their engagement ended after nearly two years together.
Aaron Rodgers claims Shailene Woodley wanted to sleep with another man
Aaron Rodgers shared his version of what ended his relationship with Shailene Woodley. He discussed the breakup during an episode of Not Just Football. Speaking with Pittsburgh Steelers teammate Cam Heyward, Rodgers recalled proposing to Woodley.
The NFL star said, “I proposed to Shailene and she said yes. Now, she maybe felt like she was forced to make a decision. She could have said no.” He further claimed, “A couple days after that she tells me, ‘Before we get married, I gotta go f— this guy.'”
Rodgers also pushed back against Woodley’s previous comments about the impact their breakup had on her mental health. “Her story is that I ruined her life and gave her crazy depression because I left her. But in actuality, she told me that and then she took off the ring by March—I proposed in December—and we had a couple of times where we tried to [reunite] and nothing ever happened.”
Their engagement officially ended back in 2022. By then, Rodgers claimed “there wasn’t even a relationship to break off.” He said, “She literally told me, ‘I don’t want to be with you’ after we tried some reconciliation in 2021. There’s just a lot of narrative out there that isn’t true.”
Rodgers later revealed he’d gotten into another relationship. In 2024, he announced his relationship with Brittani. The couple reportedly married in early 2025. Rodgers also admitted he regrets not marrying her sooner. He said he regrets not proposing to Brittani back in 2017 “because that sent me right there into a tailspin of what can I be accused of as a partner in a relationship.”
As of writing, Shailene Woodley has not publicly responded to Rodgers’ recent claims.
