According to a royal insider, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are now having second thoughts about relocating to the UK. The hesitation comes after learning that their roles in the royal family will not change.
King Charles recently clarified that the couple would remain non-working royals. The monarch outlined the decision in a letter to government officials, the armed forces, and Lord Lieutenants “to help avoid doubt or confusion.”
According to the King’s letter, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will retain their existing status. “Their styles as His and Her Royal Highness remain in abeyance and are not used,” it said.
It further added, “The charitable work of the Duke and Duchess is a personal matter for them both and undertaken in their private capacity. In short, their position is akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.”
A royal household insider has claimed that the couple is rethinking their UK relocation after Prince William reportedly encouraged the King to confirm their position as non-working royals. Sources informed columnist Rob Shuter, “William had had enough of the confusion. Lord Lieutenancies were asking how Harry and Meghan should be treated.
