His question comes after Thomas Markle was reportedly under investigation following allegations by his son that he had kept child abuse images in their shared home in the Philippines.. Talking to The Sun, Thomas Markle Jr. said he was “horrified” by what he found and felt he had “no option” but to report his father to the local police.
On the other hand, Meghan claimed that she first learned of the “disturbing” allegations about her father in 2018. It was after a letter was sent to London’s Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection division. In a statement, she said, “I am deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours. My thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed.”
Meghan Markle says her decision to cut ties with her father was about protecting her children
In a statement shared by The Sun, Meghan Markle said that the claims made against her father in 2018 were part of the reason why she severed her relationship with him. She said, “I hope it can now be understood that, despite certain media publications’ distortion over the years, any distance from my father and my choice to not allow him to have contact with our children was for one reason: to protect them.”
“I trusted that the authorities were doing the same for other families,” she added. “Although the breadth of what has now been uncovered is more sickening than one could ever imagine, my sincerest hope is that justice will be fully served and that the priority remains the safety and protection of innocent children.”
Thomas Markle has denied the allegations.
